But if we freely admit our sins when his light uncovers them, he will be faithful to forgive us every time. God is just to forgive us our sins because of Christ, and he will continue to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9

When we confess our sin(s) it becomes a way of restoring our relationship with God. It clears our heart and prepares us to be with God, to listen, to be open minded to what He has. We must be reminded that confession does not make us one with God. That was given to us through Christ’s sacrifice. He will always be faithful to restore our passion for Him. All of our sins were paid for on the cross. There isn’t anything we can do to remove them, but when we confess to God, His faithfulness will begin to restore our closeness with Him. The forgiveness fills the heavens with grace. Grace towards each of us, even when we sin.

Making the choice to carry our own sin is a sin itself. We must face the sin by confessing the sin, receive the forgiveness that God has promised, rebuke the enemy behind it, and replace all the lies with God’s truth. Once you have confessed the sin, receiving the forgiveness that God has promised can be hard. As humans I believe that forgiveness is hard to give and even harder to receive for most. I would say, “shame on us.” Who are we to not accept a gift? To say to others nope, I am not good enough to be given what was promised. I will continue to carry this cross by myself. In fact, let me have your cross too. I am sure I am part of the problem; therefore, I will carry both. Don’t mind me. You go and have my forgiveness too.

We must remember that God made us in His own image. We are of Perfection and therefore we are good enough to receive His forgiveness that is promised.

Father, I pray that we can put down the cross at Your feet and hear Your words of forgiveness that You gave to us so many years ago. I am so grateful that You loved us so much that You gave Your only Son for our sins. Father, please guide us towards You as I rebuke the enemy from my sin so that I can replace all the lies with Your truth.
